Planting native trees around the Barn Backpackers |
The Ecological Restoration project is well under way here at The Barn Backpackers and Campgrounds. Splendid progress is being made as we replace the existing exotic flora in our front yard bordering the National Park with wonderful native wetland species.
We have planted well in excess of 100 native plants with the Stray and Adventure Tours passengers that have stayed with us. It is heart warming to witness the abundance of Eco Warriors among the International contingency travelling around our shores who have been only too happy to get some dirt under their finger nails.
Hope you have left the Top of the South with a well deserved sense of enlightenment, not to mention the carbon credits earned to continue your journey down the South Island guilt free.
"Great place, almost in the Abel Tasman Park. The dorms are very good and the house is just warm and cossy. If you are looking for more than a simple bed, this is the right place. The guests are friendly, helpful and wide-minded!"
