Kayaking The Astrolabe

Abel Tasman Trips - kayaking the astrolabe Abel TasmanActivity: Starting from The Barn Office you will seamlessly find yourself kayaking up the first section of the Abel Tasman called the Astrolabe to find your accommodation for the night

Accommodation: We can organise either a hut or a beachfront campsite!

Enjoy dinner here and wander down to the beach at night, if you’re lucky you may even catch some bioluminescence!

Wasunrise tentking up on one of the Abel Tasman Easterly facing Beaches is one of those moments that will live with you for the rest of your days. Create that special memory with your partner or even your special group friends.

Once you have had the obligatory morning swim and whipped up a nice breaky its time to continue the day.

  • If you are in rush then we would recommend doing the Anchorage to Marahau section or start the beginning of The Gullet from Anchorage to Bark Bay and we can organise the afternoon boat back out to Marahau.
  • The best thing about starting The Gullet is you can drop in on Cleopatras Pools and cross the falls river swing bridge. It is about a 3-4 hour walk to Bark in Total, so we can boat you back out to be in Marahau around 3 pm or 4:30 pm.
  • For those with more time, you can continue up the gullet up to Onethauti for the last boat arriving back in Marahau around 4:30.
  • If you are looking to regather yourself in the area that night we will be able to accommodate you in a range of options in Marahau at The Barn
